Vicki Nolan Marnin, CNM, MSN
Vicki attended Case Western Reserve University and The Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing, where she earned her Master of Science in Nursing and her CNM certification. Prior to that time, she was a Bradley Childbirth Educator, a doula for her Bradley students, and a Registered Nurse.
In 1996, Vicki founded the midwifery service at Whitney M. Young Jr. Health Center, a Federally Qualified Community Health Center in downtown Albany. She was the first midwife with full-time privileges at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York. And in 2007, she was a co-author of “Closing the theory-practice gap: intrapartum midwifery management of planned home births,” published in the Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health. She is a frequent speaker for university classes and community groups regarding women’s health, pregnancy and birth.Following the home birth of her daughter, Vicki and her family move to CT. She joined Birth & Beyond in it’s first year of operation and in 2009 became the owner of the practice. Vicki is a dedicated, compassionate midwife who has joyfully helped her clients deliver nearly 2,000 babies.
Sherry Rinell, CNM, MSN, IBCLC
Sherry received her nursing and midwifery degrees from Yale University. Following her graduation in 1990, she accepted a job at Fair Haven Community Health Center in New Haven, where she worked as a midwife for 22 years. During that time, she was also a clinical instructor for the Yale midwifery program. She was awarded the Our Bodies Ourselves Women’s Health Hero Award in 2009 for her work in community health. Sherry volunteered as a La Leche League leader for almost 15 years, and supporting breastfeeding will always be an important part of her life. She is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
Sherry is the mother of 4 and the grandmother of 7. When she is not working, she enjoys hiking, dancing, reading, and spending time with her family.
Deborah Popkin CNM, MSN, IBCLC
Debby attended Case Western Reserve University and the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing, where she earned her Master of Science in Nursing and her nurse-midwifery certification. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University.
Prior to her midwifery training, Debby’s path in Women’s Health included experience as a doula, sexual health educator, and labor & delivery nurse. She moved to Connecticut to join Central Connecticut OB/GYN as a midwife in 1998, where she worked until the birth of her son in 2003. Debby has served as clinical faculty for midwifery students from The Frontier School, Yale School of Nursing, and SUNY Stony Brook. She is a La Leche League Leader and has worked as a midwife at Hartford Hospital. Debby is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
Both of Debby’s children are Birth & Beyond babies, and she is thrilled to be joining this group of exceptional midwives to provide birthing options for women across Connecticut.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Mistie has lived in Connecticut for the past 15 years. She earned a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine. Prior to Naturopathic school, Mistie worked as a nanny and a post-partum doula for ten plus years. She is the proud mother of Griffin and Sylvie, both born at home with the Birth and Beyond midwives. Currently, Mistie is delighted to join the Birth and Beyond team as an office assistant.
