THE MIDWIVES:

Vicki Nolan Marnin, CNM, MSN

Vicki attended Case Western Reserve University and The Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing, where she earned her Master of Science in Nursing and her CNM certification. Prior to that time, she was a Bradley Childbirth Educator, a doula for her Bradley students, and a Registered Nurse.

In 1996, Vicki founded the midwifery service at Whitney M. Young Jr. Health Center, a Federally Qualified Community Health Center in downtown Albany. She was the first midwife with full-time privileges at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York. And in 2007, she was a co-author of “Closing the theory-practice gap: intrapartum midwifery management of planned home births,” published in the Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health. She is a frequent speaker for university classes and community groups regarding women’s health, pregnancy and birth.Following the home birth of her daughter, Vicki and her family move to CT. She joined Birth & Beyond in it’s first year of operation and in 2009 became the owner of the practice. Vicki is a dedicated, compassionate midwife who has joyfully helped her clients deliver nearly 2,000 babies.

Sherry Rinell, CNM, MSN, IBCLC

Sherry received her nursing and midwifery degrees from Yale University.  Following her graduation in 1990, she accepted a job at Fair Haven Community Health Center in New Haven, where she worked as a midwife for 22 years.  During that time, she was also a clinical instructor for the Yale midwifery program.  She was awarded the Our Bodies Ourselves Women’s Health Hero Award in 2009 for her work in community health.  Sherry volunteered as a La Leche League leader for almost 15 years, and supporting breastfeeding will always be an important part of her life.  She is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

Sherry is the mother of 4 and the grandmother of 7.  When she is not working, she enjoys hiking, dancing, reading, and spending time with her family.

 

 

Jennette Morgan, CNM, MSN

Jennette started her journey as a birth doula, in Jersey City, NJ with the Hudson County Perinatal Consortium doulaing immigrant mothers who had no family or support. She received her BSN from New York University while continuing to work as a volunteer birth doula in her community. After graduating, Jennette began working at Mount Sinai Hospital on the labor and delivery floor where she has been for the last 4.5 years. As a labor nurse, Jennette became certified as a Childbirth Educator through Prepared Childbirth Educator Inc., received a certification as Obstetric Nurse (RNC-OB) and attended breastfeeding and Spinning Babies workshops. Jennette received her MSN from Frontier Nursing University and is so excited to be starting her midwifery career with the wise and compassionate midwives at Birth & Beyond.

Jennette grew up in Rockland County, NY; she enjoys traveling – exploring both locally and abroad, volleyball, knitting, gardening, cooking and studying homeopathy.

 

 

 

 

 

Chelsea Masler, CNM, MSN

Chelsea earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Nurse-Midwifery and global health focus from Vanderbilt University. Prior to nurse-midwifery school, Chelsea volunteered as a doula and worked in public health outreach and program development. During her time at Vanderbilt, Chelsea served as the co-director of a prenatal clinic for the underserved and spent her final clinical rotation at Nativiti Women’s Health & Birth Center in The Woodlands, Texas, supporting physiologic out of hospital birth. Chelsea is excited to join the team at Birth & Beyond and support clients in making reproductive health choices that work best for them and their families.

 

Chelsea and her wife are thrilled to return home to New England after several years spent living in the Rust Belt and the Southern United States. When not working, you can find Chelsea hiking, skiing, gardening, or spending time with her wife and their two cats.

Karl Litka, Practice Manager

Karl attended the University of Connecticut, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts.  He has held positions as Practice Manager at two other OB/GYN practices prior to coming to Birth & Beyond in August of 2017.

Renita graduated from Qunnipiac College (currently Quinnipiac University) with an Associate’s Degree in Legal Administrative Assistance and continued on to earn her Bachelor’s degree two years later in Business Management.  She worked for Travelers Insurance Co. before becoming a SAHM which she did for 21 years, raising six wonderful sons.  She joined our staff in November of 2016.

Renita loves spending time in New Hampshire at her family’s lakefront cottage kayaking, hiking and relaxing in the sun.  Shen enjoys the beach, walking, running and spending time with her family.  She has a passion for learning as much as she can about holistic health.
